Based on ten interviews and gathering quantitative information, the issue is presented through three user personas. There are three scenarios: the first group presents passengers who rarely travel, the second group presents travelers who are unfamiliar with airports, and the third group presents passengers who travel frequently.
More information regarding the interview process and the user journey may be found here.
This is the real example of gate change confusion.
The Gate was changed some period before boarding, and the user wasn't familiar with that information. There was no email or SMS with the modifications, but the user already had the information about the first gate location. The information on the airport app was different from what the user had, so that situation caused the user to be confused and frustrated.
Here are presented some of the suggestions how the issue can be solved, and how the users will be satisfied with the solution.
